So you have thought about online dating. Maybe you have even browsed a few online dating sites. Still a bit nervous - worried about security - here are some tips.

1. Think twice if he/she sounds to good to be true. It is easy to fall into a fantasy about someone you have not met yet. Take TIME to get to know your online dating partner.

2. Speak on the phone before you ever meet in person. Call your online dating partner and make sure your number is blocked. If it goes well you can exchange phone numbers later.

3. When you do decide to meet make sure that it is in a public place and someone knows where you are and when you expect to be back. Make sure you take a cell phone with you.

These tips are not to scare you, just to keep you safe. There are lots of wonderful people out there, you just have to make sure the one you are going to hook up with is one of those wonderful people.

Remember, I met my husband through online dating so I do know what to watch for but also that it does work!!
